we have managed to secure one of the last remaining pitch-side banners to help promote myherefordshire.com. This means if you work with, or are part of a non-profit or charitable organisation, then get involved and by working with us you can benefit from increased visibility and help to raise awareness of your organisation.

our neighbours - november 07

we have had a number of people asking for information relating to border counties, so we have put together a simple information page on Herefordshire's neighbours. Have a look and let us know if it is useful, or you think there is any information we should add.

competition winners announced - october 07

winners have been selected for the 'the image of food in Herefordshire' photographics competition. Check out the winning entries on the competition page.

roadshows, photo festival and competition - september 07

If you haven't already noticed we were running a photo competition with the theme 'the image of food in Herefordshire'. The competition has now closed and the winners have been chosen. There is also some information on roadshows that are happening, where we are touring the Community Access Points, events and festivals around Herefordshire, showing a video and giving hands-on sessions and freebies. Finally there is some information on the Herefordshire Photography Festival which kicks off towards the end of September and runs throughout October. We have been lucky enough to get a few unique shots from one of the main artists exhibiting, and these can be found on the photo festival pages.

repetitive events - september 07

we have just implemented another feature that will make adding events easier. We realise that many people organise repetitive events on a weekly or monthly basis, and adding these events over and over again can be a real chore. There are obviously a huge number of combinations that could be possible, i.e. every week, every monday, every other Sunday etc. so this does take some time to think through, but should be a useful and valuable feature. Have a read of this document (182Kb, PDF) that will help guide you through adding repetitive events. Don't forget, if you already have a database of events, then see the get involved page for more details on how you can use XML to automatically add your events to myherefordshire.com.

how big are your feet - august 07

your carbon footprint is a measure of the amount of Carbon Dioxide (CO₂) you produce as part of your daily life and it is often expressed as tons of Carbon Dioxide or tons of Carbon emitted per year. There are many online calculators available to work out your carbon footprint, but we have been working directly with a number of national organisations to incorporate the many changes that have recently been released.

You can now calculate your own personal footprint, see that against the average for your Parish, and also see the averages for the County, the UK and the World. The calculator is now fully available and we invite you to try it out and give us your feedback. we have just teamed up with one of the top weather providers Metcheck to be able to provide a 7 day weather forecast for Herefordshire. There is a lot of information on the page, so have a look and see what the weekend weather might be like !! 7 day weather forecast

email subscriptions - july 07

we have just released this exciting new feature. You now have the option of selecting a set of criteria to filter the events from myherefordshire.com and then automatically email these to you on a scheduled basis. For example, each Sunday you might want to receive Kids Activity events happening in Your Parish in the week ahead. Log in and under the 'my stuff' section you will see a new link to 'my alerts'. Here you can update and change your choices to customise the email that you receive. Let us know if you think this is a useful feature, or if any changes could be made to enhance it.

Wednesday the 20th June 2007 was the official launch date of myherefordshire.com. A star-studded launch event was help at the Left Bank Village in Hereford. You can now view the launch video, and read more about the goings on, on the new launch pages

hear your site - may 07

we have just released some fantastic new functionality. We have implemented Readspeaker XT, which is speech-enablement software designed for anyone who would prefer to have websites read out. With no downloads what-so-ever, it gives you total control over how you listen to the pages and whether a graphical or text-only version is displayed. When you click on the 'listen to this page' link, you will see a panel appear at the top and bottom of the page and there is a built in help file for further assistance. We have configured the software to also allow you to read any sites which are linked from myherefordshire.com. This means if you have been in touch, and we now link to your village or parish website, then users can also read your site. So come on, have a go and let us know what you think...

we recently sent out an information leaflet to all parish councils and some other parties, detailing the features of myherefordshire, and how they can get involved. This is now available for download as an Adobe PDF document - 138Kb and you can see the help page for more information on PDF files.

some helpful new pages - jan 07

you may have noticed that there are a few new pages on myherefordshire.com. We have just released this 'whats new' page to keep you up-to-date with developments behind the scenes of myherefordshire.com. There is now a 'get involved' page which details all the ways to interact with myherefordshire.com, including RSS feeds, Google Gadgets and downloadable logos etc.. Finally we have released a 'guidance' page. This page is designed for prospective website designers/creators to help them with a few basic but important website hints and tips. We hope you find the new pages useful.

google gadget - january 07

we have just released the myherefordshire.com Google Gadget. This gadget allows you to have the myherefordshire.com search box on your personal google homepage. There is also the option to have a customised myherefordshire.com feature box on your own website. See the 'get involved' page for more information and the source code, or search the google directory with the term 'Herefordshire'. This is ground-breaking new technology so we would be very interested in your views and usage ideas.
