Overeaters Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from compulsive overeating. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop eating compulsively. There are no dues or fees for membership, we are self-supporting through our own contributions. We are not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution, and do not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to abstain from compulsive overeating and to carry this message of recovery to those who still suffer.

Course Outline This qualification is designed to build on the vocabulary and language use learners were introduced to during the Level 1 course. This course will enable learners to develop their ability to communicate using BSL in a range of familiar contexts, participating in longer and more open-ended exchanges than at Level 1. The course will develop functional communication in BSL about a range of real life, routine and daily experiences, expressed through simple sentence structures and set phrases. The learner will learn to deal with most routine language tasks and have a sufficient grasp of grammar to cope with some non-routine tasks. Learners must have undertaken, and ideally passed, the Level 1 certificate before undertaking Level 2. You may be asked to provide evidence of your qualification, such as your Level 1 certificate. If you are awaiting Level 1 results or a resit date please contact our offices to discuss your situation with the lead tutor as we are often able to accommodate learner’s on a Level 2 course in the meantime. Units BSL 201 and BSL 202 are run concurrently to develop learner’s productive and receptive skills simultaneously, followed by BSL 203 which focuses on further development of conversational skills. Each unit is assessed separately and candidates must complete all three units to achieve the full qualification. BSL 201 – Receptive BSL This unit focuses on understanding what is said when people sign to you. This includes conversational skills but will also develop a learner’s ability to understand longer chunks of information, usually in the form of a narrative. This unit includes appropriate conversational responses such as how to show interest and requesting clarification when a message is not understood. This unit has a practical assessment at the end of the course; the tutor provides a signed clip which learners watch twice before answering multiple choice questions.
As part of its Silver Anniversary celebrations in 2009, the Hospice staged its first ever Flower Festival, 'A Cornucopia of Silver'. It was a huge success with a unique atmosphere embracing displays of extraordinary quality representing Hospice fundraising over the years. A second flower festival ‘A Passage of Time’ will run daily at Lyde Arundel from 18th to 21st May 2012. Local flower clubs and individual arrangers have again been invited to participate. A shopping mall of local crafts, lunches and cream teas and an evening of floral entertainment with Alan Beattie are just some of the attractions which, it is hoped, will delight visitors once again. Tickets cost £6.00 and special rate group bookings are available through the Hospice by contacting Debbie Hart on 01432 851000 ext 118. We would like to thank Mrs Kate Bliss, Mr Louis Calleja, Sir John Cotterell, Mrs Rae Nicholas, Mrs Gina Children, Mr Jim Dunn, Mrs Sylvia Richards, Mr Richard Claridge, Mr John Nash, Mrs Karen Watkins for agreeing to be patrons of the Flower Festival and are indebted to Mr & Mrs Robert Watkins for allowing the event to be staged at the beautiful Lyde Arundel. The Festival opens on Friday 18th may at 10.00am and closes on Monday 21st May at 4.30pm.

Planning a wedding can be hell…but planning to ruin a wedding can be a hell of a lot of fun! We’d be delighted if you’d be able to come and join the congregation as this off Broadway cult hit makes continues its European Premiere. Dear cherished loved one, Andrew and I are getting married. I know, I know – my parents were a bit shocked too, but they’re (almost) over that now. And they’re going to be involved every step of the way, which should make things really, um…interesting? My loud, opinionated mother, God bless her, always makes things a bit crazier than normal; Andrew’s weasel of an ex-boyfriend keeps us on our feet; and tons of crazy relatives on the side will make this the funniest musical comedy extravaganza you’ve ever seen! Please help me survive my wedding! It promises to be something neither of us will ever forget. Sincerely, Anthony Pinnunziato. RSVP for My Big Gay Italian Wedding now!
