We'd love more people to volunteer to give Herefoodshire a go!

Everyone can take part in a way that suits them - please join in by making your own pledge.

You could ....

  • join in for a particular week, or a set day a week or a meal a week - like Sunday lunch. Let us know what you've picked
  • buy local produce for a special occasion
  • tell us about a recipe with local ingredients that are in season
  • encourage a local group to provide 'Herefoodshire' refreshments at one or more of their events
  • decide to spend a certain amount of money a month on local produce
  • eat or drink something local every day
  • try something new produced locally every month
  • encourage your workplace to buy local and Faritrade
  • ask for local produce when you shop and eat out
  • challenge local restaurants and caterers to produce 'all Herefordshire' dishes
  • help survey local shops to find out what's available
  • try growing some food yourself

Send us you feedback, ideas or pledges and we may include it on this page

"Good luck with your venture. Stick with it and keep us updated with your progress" - AT Hereford

"Hello Trish and other Herefoodians, My pledge is to serve at least 50% local produce by volume. I include Herefordshire and adjoining counties in 'local' . My top tip for being a Herefoodie if you live in Hereford is to go to the pub! Every Thursday evening from 6-8pm the lovely people from Caplor Farm in Fownhope sell their wonderful fresh veg and free range eggs at the skittle alley of the Volunteer Inn in Harold Street Hereford. It's a great way to buy really good quality local produce. If I'm tempted to stay for a drink afterwards, my favourite is a Herefordshire organic cider" - Lucy
